1. I Wanna Be An Action Figure

Words and music by John D Boydston III

I wanna be a super hero, yeah yeah yeah
Then I could be an action figure yeah yeah yeah
I may not be as old as a Backstreet Boy
But I know I could make it as a fast-food toy

I wanna be an action figure yeah yeah yeah
Then I could save the world from evil yeah yeah yeah
I may not be as tough as Steve McQueen
I know I could make it as a figurine

(instrumental bridge)

I wanna be a super hero, that’d be pretty groovy
Cause then I could be an action figure, and make my own movie
I wanna spin a web like a spider can
I wanna wear a cape like Superman, man o, man o, man o,

I wanna be an action figure
I wanna be a super hero
I wanna be a action figure yeah yeah yeah
I wanna be a superhero

2. The Sports Song

Words and music by John Boydston

“Well I swung real hard and I heard the crack of the bat
The ball kept flying and I wouldn’t be lying ’bout that
I rounded second and don’t you know
They tried to get me but they missed the throw
Another big day of fun out on the field

Now we’re playing football I’m going out for a pass
I catch the ball and I’m running the hundred yard dash
I’m heading for the endzone I can see the line
Everybody’s cheering and it feels so fine
Another big day for my team out on the field

I like to run, I like to throw
So put me in the game I’m raring to go
I’ll play tomorrow, I’ll play today
My dad’s the coach but sometimes we win anyway

Now we’re playing soccer
Everybody’s chasing the ball
The parents’ are screaming you can’t hear anything at all
I found the hole and I passed right through
We kicked a goal it was 5 to 2
Another big day for my team out on the field
Another big day for me out on the field
Another big day of fun out on the field

3. It’s Hard to Be A Kid

Words and music by John Boydston

It’s hard to be a kid.
Especially when you do what I did
How was I to know?
That peanut butter wouldn’t help my hair grow
It’s hard to be a child
Especially when you’re naturally wild
How was I to know
That you have to wear clothes wherever you go?

It’s hard to be a kid
It’s hard to be a kid
it’s fun to be a kid
But its hard to be a kid

Well I try to behave,
But I forget
Like the time I got my grandma soaking wet

I try to be good
Every chance I get
I try to remember not to forget

It’s hard to be a kid,
Especially when you do what I did.
How was I to know?
I shouldn’t write down all the words I know
On the kitchen wall,
All the way across and down the hall
I thought that it was cool
Colorful and permanent markers too

It’s hard to be a kid
It’s hard to be a kid
it’s fun to be a kid
But its hard to be a kid

4. Eat Every Bean and Pea On Your Plate

Words and music by John Boydston

If you wanna grow up
To be big and strong
You gotta eat the right foods
And you’ll never go wrong
I’m hoping and a wishing
That everybody will listen
And learn about nutrition in this song

You gotta eat your potatoes
And your lettuce and tomatoes
And broccoli and spinach
Will make you strong to the finish
Ain’t no time to wait
Cause you’re gonna feel great
If you eat every bean and pea on your plate

Eats lots of fruit
Like apples and bananas
Drink lots of milk and juice from Tropicana
You gotta eat the right foods
And you’re gonna feel great
So eat every bean and pea on your plate

If you eat all your veggies, you’ll never get a wedgie
You’ll look good feel fine, even if your name is Reggie
Eat the right foods, and you’re gonna feel great
You gotta eat every bean and pea
Eat every bean and pea
Eat every bean and pea, on your plate

5. Big Rock Rooster

Words and music by John Boydston

Well I’m a big old bird and my head is Red
I say rock a doodle doo when I get outta bed
I wake everybody I crow real loud
I strut my stuff cause I’m so proud
I’m the King of Cool, the Boss the best
Well, I’m a big Rock Rooster or maybe you guessed.

Well I hope you never see me at the KFC
I’d like to meet the Colonel just him and me
And those Chick Filet cows, I guess they’re swell
But you’d think my now they’d learn how to spell
I can walk the walk, I can talk and the talk
I’m a Big Rock Rooster and I love to rock
(just watch me now)

I hope you come by and see my home
You can borrow my brush but not my comb
You know you can’t scare me unless you honk your horn
I Wanna See Rock City – that’s where I was born
Which came first, the rooster or the egg?
No time to talk, time to get outta bed
I told you once and I’ll tell you again,
I’m a big rock rooster that’s what I am
Big Rock Rooster

Words and music by John Boydston

I got ants in my pants
I gotta hop, I gotta dance

7. Way to Go, Idaho!

Words and music by John D Boydston III

If you’re looking for a really cool place to go
There’s a state out west by the name of Idaho
You can ski there in the winter
Ride the river rapids when its hot
Then at night you can talk about
The big fish you almost caught (On the Bigwood baby)

Way to Go Idaho
You won’t know till you get up and go
Whoa Whoa Idaho
That’s what you’ll say when you get up and go

From Twin Falls all the way up to Cour’ D’Alene
Red Fish Lake, Stanley everywhere in between
Picaboo. I see you
Pocatelleo and Idaho Falls
Sun Valley, Ketchum, and McCall
It’s fun there winter spring summer and fall

Way to Go Idaho
Ride the rivers and go with the flow
Whoa Whoa Don’t cha know
You won’t know till you get up and go

They got lots of snow in Idaho –
you’ll even see it in summer
You can hike, you can bike, all you like
You might even see Arnold’s hummer (he’s the governator)

You’ll see real cowboys and cowgirls
at the rodeo in Idaho
They get on their horses and their broncing bucks
to put on a show in Idaho
(Yahoo!)

Way to Go Idaho
You won’t know till you get up and go
Whoa Whoa Idaho
That’s what you’ll say when you get up and go

(Oh, there’s a couple of other towns I forgot to mention,
and one of them is Hailey. We actually named a puppy
Hailey. We were going to call her Boise, the other town
I wanted to mention, but she was a she. So I said
‘let’s call her Girlsie.’)

8. What A Wonderful World

Written by George David Weiss and Bob Thiele

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I say to myself
What wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
Bright sunny days, dark sacred nights
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

(bridge)
The colors of the rainbow are so pretty in the skies
Are also on the faces of people walking by
I see friends shaking hands saying
How do you do?
They’re really saying
I love you

I see babies cry, I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world

And I say to myself
What a wonderful world

9. I Caught My Grandad Watching Cartoons

Words and music by John Boydston

I caught my Grandad watching cartoons
He A/said that it wasn’t so
But When I walked in there was no one around
Except my dad and Johnny Bravo

He said he was sleeping — resting his eyes
But I don’t think it looked that way
I caught my Daddy watching cartoons
again today.

I heard my Papa sing the Arthur Song
Every day we walk down the street
He says he doesn’t know what its from
But he kinda liked the beat
He watches my shows with my sister and me
He acts like he don’t care
I heard my Daddy sing the Arthur song
I swear

I caught my Grandad watching Spongebob Squarepants
When I got home from school
He grabbed the remote – flipped to CNN
I said don’t worry many its cool

I catch my Grandpa watching The PowerPuff Girls,
Scooby Doo, and Dragonball Z
I guess my Grandad likes my shows As much as me
I guess my Grandad likes my shows as much as me
I guess my Grandad likes my shows as much as me

10. Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah

Written by Allen Sherman and Lou Busch

Hello Muddah, hello Fadduh,
Here I am at Camp Granada.
Camp is very entertaining,
And they say we’ll have some fun if it stops raining.
I went hiking with Joe Spivey.
He developed poison ivy.
You remember Leonard Skinner.
He got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner.

All the counselors hate the waiters,
And the lake has alligators.
And the head coach wants no sissies,
So he reads to us from something called Ulysses.

Now I don’t want this should scare ya,
But my bunk mate has malaria.
You remember Jeffrey Hardy.
They’re about to organize a searching party.

Take me home, oh Muddah, Fadduh,
Take me home, I hate Granada,
Don’t leave me out here in the forest, where
I might get eaten by a bear.

Take me home, I promise I will not make noise,
Or mess the house with other boys.
Oh please don’t make me stay,
I’ve been here one whole day.

Dearest Fadduh, darling Muddah,
How’s my precious little bruddah?
Let me come home if you miss me.
I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me.

Wait a minute, it stopped hailing.
Guys are swimming, guys are sailing.
Playing baseball, gee that’s better.
Muddah, Fadduh, kindly disregard this letter!

11. For Those About to Walk, We Salute You

Words and music by John Boydston

You know driving a car, from what I hear
It’s kinda fun once you learn how to steer
And riding a bike, it’ll get you there
But sometimes that wind will mess up your hair
But nothing can beat, walking on your own two feet
So go get your socks, and go get your shoes
Because for those about to walk
We Salute You!

You can take it from us — we’re no small fries
We been walking since we were just about your size
Once you take that step you’ll never look back
Next thing you know you’ll be hitting the track, jack!
(Hey my name’s not Jack)
But nothing can beat your own two feet
So go get your socks, and go get your shoes
Because for those about to walk
We Salute You!

First you take one step, and then you take another
Don’t worry if you fall
Word to your mother
Once you get the hang, its pretty fun
But don’t forget you gotta walk before you run

(guitar workout frenzy, not really)
So nothing can beat walking on your own two feet
So go get your socks, and go get your shoes
Because for those about to walk
We Salute You!
For those about to Walk – we salute you!

12. I Got My PF Flyers Workin’

(no lyrics here, but when I was a kid PF Flyers were a pretty cool thing to have, cause according to the Johnny Quest commercials you could just about fly and jump mountains in them, especially if you had the Johnny Quest PF FLyer decoder ring, which I did, but I never knew what I was supposed to decode with it. But that’s where the title of this song comes from since someone asked once.)

13. You’re Not the Bossa Nova Me

Words and music by John Boydston

You’re not the bossa nova me
You can’t tell me what to do
You can’t say that I’ve been bad
Because you’re not my mom and dad

You’re not my Grammy or my Gramps
So please don’t call me smarty pants
You can’t tell me how to be
Because you’re not the bossa me

(bridge)

Stop doing everything I do
Or else I’m gonna tell on you
I’m gonna go and tell your mom
You’ll get in big trouble too

Stop saying everything I say
Stop going everywhere I go
You better just let me be
Cause you’re not the bossa me

(bridge)

You can’t say that I been bad
Because you’re not my mom and dad
You can’t tell me how to be
You’re not the bossa nova me

14. Adventures In Carpool

Words and music by John Boydston

Daddy’s Driving Carpool Today Allright
Better strap on your helmut, bucklel up tight
When everyone in the back starts to fight
His face turns red his knuckles turn white.
Daddy’s getting really mad now,
Doesn’t seem quite so glad now

We’re driving in the carpool
Driving in the Carpool
We’re driving in the carpool
Driving in the Carpool

Daddy’s driving carpool again today
I hope nobody gets in our way
Now there’s traffic as far we can see
Then he makes a sharp turn,
Watch out for that tree
I’m glad we’re in the Expedition
I hope that cop will listen
Daddy’s taking the long cut now.

We’re driving in the carpool
Driving in the Carpool
We’re driving in the carpool
Driving in the Carpool

Daddy’s driving carpool
We’re running late
Says we should be there half past eight
Daddy says he’s hoping and wishing
That we won’t have another collision.
I think my daddy’s cool now
But I just wanna get to school now

15. Grandapa Says

Words and music by John Boydston

Grandpa says…
Everybody’s got a right
To pick and choose
Their own views
That’s what Grandpa says
And Grandpa says if
You snooze you lose
And he’s probably right
But how come Grandpa takes so many naps
Before goes to bed at night?

That’s what Grandpa does
And he says we’re gonna get older
Then we can do what the grandpas do, uh-huh, hey hey
I hope when I get older
That I can do what the grandpas do
Uh huh Hey Hey
And I can say what the grandpas say
Oh Hoh, whee hee
Bouncing a baby on your grandpa knee
And take everybody fishing

And I bet, when I get older I’ll be rocking in my rocking chair
And I’ll go out and get a haircut even though I don’t have any hair
Whoo-hoo

That’s what my grandpa says
And it usually goes
Unless my grandma says — NO!
That’s when grandpa says
‘now you listen to your grandmother.
