Here are some other kid-friendly websites we recommend:
Kids Music That Rocks — This is new, at least to me. And one could only hope Daddy A Go-Go of all Children’s Artists in the world could get a fair shake at a review site with a title like this (because we do rock after all). And if you saw their review on our reviews page, you’ll see we did, in a nice-write up from this site’s cool blog host Warren Truitt. Thanks Warren. Check out this great site.
Children’s Music Web — Great site for music. You’ll even see us there.
Newsanchormom — Here’s a cool site any parent with any questions about news of the day related to parenting and children will appreciate — especially moms looking for intelligent answers and discussions. The author-host happens to be from my previous line of work, TV News.
A Family Runs Through It – There’s a song on my new CD called “Idaho,” my tribute to a state most people will never visit – but those who do, and those who live there know what a great place it is. Check out this Idaho’s family-blog by a stay-at-home dad who is also a great writer and observer of family life.
Out With The Kids – A great site featuring all things to do when you’re out, or even in with the kids.
Toon Tracker– And you thought you were the only one who remembers Cool McCool or The Beagles. This is one of my favorite sites out there. Nothing but cartoon theme songs and histories of long-forgotten toons.
Other points of fun interest, most are not really parenting or kid related, but all should be G-rated (if not let me know):
Mazeppa Pompazoidi -- If you grew up in or anywhere near Tulsa circa 1970, Mazeppa Pompazoidi is one of life’s landmarks. Visit this site to buy DVD’s of his old shows — a must if you were there. Mazeppa’s real name is Gailard Sartain; he’s a GREAT actor and you probably have seen him in a lot of movies. Check out his long list of great roles here. He’s also a GREAT artist, and has done four Daddy A Go Go’s CD’s including “Eat Every Bean and Pea On Your Plate” and “Rock of All Ages”
Tulsa TV Memories– Along those same lines, here’s a well-done and increasingly massive tribute to all things having to do with NE Oklahoma’s TV and related history. Like Grandma always said, nothing like fresh nostalgia. Every city or town should so lucky to have a site like this.
Little Steven’s Underground Garage — Speaking of a wonderful blast from the past… You know Little Steven from Bruce Springsteen’s band, and The Sopranos (RIP), but you may not know he’s currently the coolest DJ this side of Saturn. This weekly show is the best thing to hit radio since Paul Revere & The Raiders. Check it out – Find the jukebox and click for a show — now running 24/7.
Terry “Buffalo” Ware — Another Okie link here, but you don’t have to be from The Sooner State to get it. Terry Ware is one of OK’s best kept secrets and if you live there you want it to stay that way, lest he get (more) famous and move away. Terry is an amazing guitarist, songwriter, and all around great guy.
CD Baby — If you don’t like what you’ve been hearing on the radio lately, check out the music you’re missing at this great site for Independent Music. Every genre known to man is here, and then some. Its run by some great folks — you can even buy all Daddy A Go Go CD’s there, and we’re about as “indie” as it gets.
Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation — on a more somber note, we are mourning the loss of our very dear friend Jill Albert, an incredible mother, wife, friend, and an inspiration to everyone she ever met. Jill lost her courageous 3 1/2 year battle with breast cancer, a fight that inspired her husband Jon, to help other families who find themselves in this situation – facing the loss of a parent to cancer. That is what The Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation is all about. Please visit them.
