Biography
Daddy A Go Go is the brainchild of John Boydston, who writes, records, (mostly) plays and produces the music you hear on a Daddy a Go Go CD. He was born in Oklahoma, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma Masters in Journalism, and is still known to shout “Go Sooners,” sometimes at completely inappropriate moments. He spent ten years working as a TV News producer, making stops at CNN and WSVN-TV along the way, before leaving the biz in the early ’90s to become a stay-at-home dad.

The idea behind Daddy a Go Go grew out of the joys and tribulations of hands-on parenting, and the realization that 'KIDS LIKE ROCK MUSIC' and synthesized techno-schlock wasn't cutting it in our house. So, with a guitar, 3 chords, one microphone, an old beat-up set of Slingerland drums, and a little multi-track recorder, the notion of Family-Friendly Rock and Roll Daddy a Go Go-style began to gradually take shape. Now -- many guitars, several better microphones, even more guitars, the same old set of Slingerlands with new sticks, the same three chords plus a couple more, and then some more guitars, and several CDs later, we’re finally rocking, baby! John lives with his family in Atlanta, Ga -- wife Cory, and sons Jake (16) and Max (13) who are pictured below.
News Flash: When John first started making music, Jake and Max were 5 and 3. Now Ten Years After, they join dad onstage as The Daddy a Go Go Band, along with family-friends Jonathan Paz (16) on drums, and sometimes Daniel Cohen (13) on keyboards. Jake plays bass & Max plays guitar. So now when Daddy A Go Go does a show he's got a hot band behind him.
Besides being outstanding musicians in their own right, they also skew
down the average age of the band dramatically, which John tends to
dramatically skew upwards. (Not the first time he's been accused of
skewing something up.)The Daddy A Go Go Band can be heard on the new CD, as well as guest drummers Donovan Babb, David Michaelson, and The Reverend Walt Brewer (who has played drums on most Daddy A Go Go tracks to date).
